Child Protection and New Technology
New Technology is extremely
popular with children and young people – internet services, mobile phones and file sharing have increased communication
abilities for children and young people. While clearly important in opening up
new and exciting opportunities for information sharing, these forms of technology also raise child protection and safety issues. Volunteer Development Agency is holding a one day seminar to raise awareness of the
links between new technology and safety of children on Friday 20 October 2006. Information

Why Women? Campaign and Report
The Why Women? campaign is speaking up for women’s organisations, who do great work
for women and society as a whole, but are under threat from lack of funding. We are calling on the government to put gender
back on the agenda by:
- acknowledging the systematic disadvantage women face because of their
gender, and
- publicly recognising the essential services and expertise the women's
sector provides to address this.
Information
on this campaign can be found on http://www.niwep.org.uk/id4.html
The why women? is based on information from in-depth interviews with 44 women’s
organisations. The research describes the issues and problems that women’s organisations work with, the range of services
and activities they deliver to address these issues, the impact of their services and funding barriers threatening their sustainability.
